Bike Gallery converts space to tri shop
Kind of a interesting thing for Beaverton, I will have to check it out.
Bike Gallery converts space to tri shop BEAVERTON, OR (BRAIN) Jan 23, 06:55 MT — To serve the surging triathlon market, Portland, Oregon-area chain Bike Gallery has converted the upper floor of its Beaverton location into a separate store, Epic Tri Shop. A grand opening is set for this Wednesday evening. “Triathlon has been growing in Portland for sure. There’s been a real plethora of events the past three or four years,” including the launch of half-Ironman and Olympic-distance races, Epic manager Gordie Cumming said. “We’ve seen a lot of growth in the number of people participating.” The 1,000-square-foot store-within-a-store has its own register, a modern, boutique atmosphere and custom racks made by a local fabricator, said Cumming, who competes in Ironman and half-Ironman events, XTERRAs and other tris.

I was running through the Nike campus today and thinking:
“Man, I wouldn’t mind working here if they made shoes in the USA”.
I mean if Keen and New Balance can make shoes here. Why can’t Nike?
They don’t even have to make all their shoes here, just throw us a bone. I guess I should just feel blessed just having the Headquarters here and all the riff-raff managers, executives, and what-not is enough.
Ref: Keen, New Balance,
[side note: Beaverton tried to annex the Nike campus a while back because, well it is in Beverton, and Nike faught pretty hard to remain in Washington County even though the city has now grown up on all sides. Hillsboro (another close city) also tried I guess and lost too. Nike’s threat as I understand the situation is that they will leave Oregon(?) if they get annexed and have to pay more in city taxes.]
Snowy day
We actually had snow today in Beaverton. This marks the second or third time this winter that we actually had some type of white fluffy stuff on the ground where I live. In the Portland metro area they were predicting that we would be seeing scenes from “The Day After Tomorrow” and as my wife exclaimed yesterday “they even interrupted Oprah with a breaking news story that some snow was coming”.
All this makes for some pretty good comedy when it doesn’t snow or only snows an inch. Especially to my friends and family in other states that have been inundated with snow this year.
Anyway here are some pictures,
Have fun, stay warm.

The day after tomorrow this will be gone

A day commuting, some pics.

I usually don’t take the train home after work because I hate waiting I just want to ride. The bike afford some head clearing time and a challenge.
On the way home in the afternoon, roses at the Japanese Test Roase Garden. Portland is known for her roses.
