Manana Trail.  Should be called “trail of roots”.  It was fun and challenging to run today.  I use to ride this trail when I lived here in Pearl City.  I ran it today as I did not bring the bike with on this trip.  Vibram FiveFingers pack better than Surly Karate Monkey’s. The trail was the same as I remembered, but harder on foot.  The roots seem bigger now, like hopping cyclocross barriers!

It is hard to explain, but there is a sweet smell to this trail in certain areas.  I wish I knew what the plant is that grows out there.  It is only in certain area, but it fills the area so when you run by it you take a deep breadth and smile.  I think it is a Hawaiian herb, but can’t place it. Maybe a sweet type of basil(?)
