2012 Giro d'Italia: Stage 2: Final sprint | www.cyclingfans.com
Does Cav have an extra big gear? He just pulled away like he had a motor. Dang.
The crash in the final K was a scary one. Hope every one turned out ok.
Looking forward to seeing this World Cup course. Big wheels and smooth riding will win this one.

Possible Team Zendoughnut cycling kit mock up?
Again with another revolutionary release, On-One breaks the mold and creates something we cyclists all need. These guys are geniuses, it must be something in the water over there.

NOTE: THESE HAVE BEEN UCI “OFFICIALLY APPROVED” FOR THE TOUR THIS YEAR!
science of doping article from 2007
Doping is a problem in the sport as we’ve seen this last week with Alberto taken down and Lance acquitted. I think that it all just adds drama to that side of cycling. There are no black and white clear cut answers to the issue. They (UCI) could just do what the other major sports do and turn a blind eye until some politician with re-election hopes beats the hornets nest and exposes a bunch of crap. Or they could keep on the current path.
I honestly would like to see some really good science done on EPO and the other flavors of the month. Get a good understanding of what can really happen if you are 20 and take it or even 50. What are these bags of flesh really capable of in a controlled study. I am sure the Pro Tour teams know, but they have to do it under darkness and secrecy. I wonder what the sport would look like if there was an experimental league? Based on getting the most out of the body and equipment.
I found this link a while ago and was going to do some write up about doping in the sport of cycling and realized that, although it is interesting to know about, I really couldn’t care less about it. I just like using gears, two wheels, and my own power to propel me to see different things. Knowing whether or not Lance or Alberto did it doesn’t really affect how I go out and train and compete.
Just some random thoughts I think about on long rides. Have fun.
My thoughts on the Contador thing…
Meh.
Oh look! there are shiny bikes on the internet!
Thanks @KatieFnCompton for such a great race at #cxworlds. Proud you were wearing stars and stripes.
I think one of the amazing stories and probably the best reason to watch the Cyclocross World Championships in Koksijde was the elite women’s race. While Marianne Vos completely dominated the race from lap 1, the true race was for second. The most impressive ride was by Katie Compton. She crashed in lap 1 (1st picture) and looked like she was out of it, but then by lap 3 she made it back in to 2nd place (2nd picture). She finished 5th, but dang what a impressive ride. Really inspiring.
New cities host Colorado race in second year
I am looking forward to seeing Telluride in this tour. It is such a beautiful area.
New cities host Colorado race in second year DENVER, CO (BRAIN)—Race officials have picked the dozen cities that will be part of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in 2012. Close to 40 cities in the state of Colorado expressed interest. A number of criteria were used for selection including full city services support, commitments in lodging, volunteer recruitment, marketing and local tourism. Daily stages will start and end in Durango, Telluride, Montrose, Crested Butte, Gunnison, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Colorado Springs, Golden, Boulder and Denver. The four new cities are Durango, Telluride, Montrose and Boulder. Also new is the placement of the individual time trial on the final day of racing in Denver. Organizers plan to offer more details on start and finish line locations and the route next spring. The USA Pro Cycling Challenge, which drew more than 1 million spectators in its inaugural year, was recently upgraded to a 2.HC ranking. It’s set for Aug. 20-26.

US cyclist Landis guilty of using hacker to spy on lab
Could this case get any weirder? If you would have asked me in 2006 if Floyd would have an INTERNATIONAL ARREST WARRANT for masterminding a hacking plotin 2011 I along with others would have laughed at you, but this is pro-cycling so anything could happen I guess.
wow. what a messed up situation.
